Subscription categories (Settings > Subscription categories) represent the different kinds of subscriptions that are available to your moviegoers.
For example:
- Loyalty emails
- Newsletter
- Kids Club
- Special events
Subscription categories can only be created by Movio staff on request. We have two ways of maintaining them:
1. Vista sync
When a subscription category is synced to an opt-in/opt-out preference in Vista Loyalty and a member edits that preference in their account, the preference will automatically be copied from Loyalty to Movio EQ and be visible in EQ. Similarly, if a member unsubscribes to a communication via the unsubscribe link in it, EQ will automatically send an update to Vista Loyalty to update the member's preference.
After syncing, Movio will reference Vista Loyalty as the ‘source of truth’ for a member's subscription status.
2. Movio-managed
A Movio-managed subscription category is one that's manually created by Movio staff and not synced to Vista Loyalty.
These subscription categories perform the same function as the synced ones except that EQ acts as the ‘source of truth’ for a member’s subscription status, not Vista Loyalty.
